Remembering Betsy Elliott

Elizabeth “Betsy” Elliott (1962-2023)

Elizabeth Morrow “Betsy” Elliott of Charlotte, NC died unexpectedly on April 4, 2023. Born on April 4, 1962, Betsy grew up in Gastonia, NC, the daughter of Ernestine Spencer “Bootie” Morrow and Fred Torrence Morrow, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Jon Elliott of Charlotte; daughters, Emily Elliott Robinson (Samuel) and Margaret Taft Elliott, and her mother Ernestine Morrow.

Betsy was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, and mother. Her family and friends will always remember her easy elegance and the amazing gift of her “presence”. Betsy was a friend to all and made each person feel like they were the only one in the room. She cared deeply for all who knew her. Betsy was always there to celebrate each occasion and accomplishment and most importantly, her “presence” was all encompassing when comfort was needed. Her unexpected passing has left us empty and with immeasurable sadness.

Betsy and Jon were deeply involved together in the work of Leaders and Followers Foundation - Jon recently joining the board of our 501 (c)(3). Those who attended the 2023 National Prayer Breakfast Gathering, and who visited Congressional Suite II, will know Betsy was at the heart of the hospitality practiced from morning to late night - everybody commenting on Betsy's smile and the warmth of her welcome.

We think of the accounts of Mary and Martha and remember Betsy to be equally devoted, like Martha, to the service of others, while, like Mary, wanting to sit at the feet of her Lord and savior.

We are heartbroken for Jon, Margaret and Emily, but rejoice because Betsy will be with the Lord, sitting at his feet – but we also imagine the party…where no doubt Betsy will be itching to serve!

Her life will be celebrated with a service at Calvary Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023 with the family, receiving friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donations to continue her work Leaders and Followers at www.leadersandfollowers.org or her work with the Ukrainian refugees at www.Rebridge.org.
